While staying at our hotel in Ocean Isle Beach, we encourage you to venture out to explore all that Brunswick County, NC has to offer, and one of our favorite local events is soon coming to a close. September is the last month this year to visit the Shallotte Farmers Market, which is filled with goods from local vendors such as plants, produce, arts and crafts, jewelry, home goods and more! For the past six years the market has continued to grow and attract newcomers to the area. For a full list of vendors and for more information, visit the Town of Shallotte’s website!
The Market is open every Saturday this month from 8am-12pm and is located at Riverside Park on the corner of Whiteville Road and Main Street in Shallotte, NC.

Summertime may be winding down for most of us, but not in Ocean Isle Beach! On October 15th, 2011 the NC Oyster Festival will come to Ocean Isle Beach, and includes live entertainment, arts and craft vendors, the North Carolina Oyster Shucking Championship and Oyster Stew Cook-Off!
And to kick off the Festival, the NC Oyster Fest Surf-Off will be this September 10th and 11th between the Ocean Isle pier and Monroe Street beach access. Entries are open to anyone and the first heat starts at 8:00am on Saturday, the 10th.

If you’re in the market for a new beach read, why not pick up a copy of local author Jacqueline DeGroot’s mystery novels and have it signed by the author herself! Every Friday night this summer, Jacqueline will hold book signings and visit with her fans from 7-9pm at the Sunset Beach Trading Co. in nearby Sunset Beach. While there, check out her thrilling mystery series or her latest book, “Sunset Beach: A History”, which she co-wrote with local historian Miller Pope. It highlights the rich history of Sunset Beach and Ocean Isle Beach and is told through interviews of some of our area’s earliest residents.
The Sunset Beach Trading Co. is located at 423 Sunset Boulevard, just a short seven mile drive from our oceanfront hotel in Ocean Isle Beach.
