Tips for Decorating with Seashells from Ocean Isle Beach Oceanfront Hotel

Monday, April 18th, 2011

Tips for Decorating with SeashellsOne of the most enjoyable experiences our Ocean Isle Beach, NC hotel guests have is collecting seashells along the shoreline. But after you’ve collected them in your bucket, washed them and brought them home, what do you do with them then? We’ve compiled a list of tasteful and unique decorating tips for your souvenir seashells!

For a classic look, large glass vases or clear lamps are always an elegant way to show off your seashells. Instead of a generic bowl filled with seashells, try filling a seashell shaped bowl with shells. For a more eclectic look, hot glue seashells directly onto a picture frame, jewelry box or even small end table. Make your larger seashells, sanddollars and starfish stand out on a mantle.

If you’d like to bring the sea decorations into your bathroom, check out this shower curtain liner accented with seashells!  Use this same technique on your porch or deck with this seashell garland, or seashell wind chimes. If you’re ready to get collecting and decorating now, book your summer vacation now! Contact our Ocean Isle Beach, NC hotel manager online or call us today at 888-325-4753!

Photography Tips for Beach Sunsets

Wednesday, December 22nd, 2010

NC Beach PhotographerNowadays it seems everyone is an amateur photographer! So who couldn’t use helpful tips from Wilmington, NC professional photographer Stephanie Moore of Moore Photography. Photos of sunsets and sunrises are always popular, so we asked Stephanie to share her tips for photographing at those times of day. Let us know how your photos turn out next time you stay in one of our Ocean Isle Beach, NC oceanfront hotel rooms!

When photographing people during a sunset or sunrise:

  • Choose to start about an hour before sunset or sunrise
  • Point the subjects to the right or left of the sun, not straight in to it
  • Have fun with it! Try shooting a silhouette with the sun behind your subject
  • Try different angles and play with the long shadows that will appear as the sun sets or rises
