Things to do in the Ocean Isle Beach Area

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2012

Staying at The Islander Inn offers you an array of things to do. On top of having the beach at your finger tips, there are many attractions within several minutes drive:

Today we’re highlighting one that hasn’t previously been mentioned. Located in beautiful Calabash, NC, you will find a locally owned farm, hidden away in the countryside. Indigo Farms is a great attraction to add to your list of places to go while visiting! You will find fresh produce in their market, a variety of flowers in their garden center and animals in their barnyard, with whom you are free to interact with. A great destination for all ages! For news and upcoming events, be sure to bookmark their blog, and stop back here soon for more information on The Islander Inn and Ocean Isle Beach!

“Protect Our Sea Turtles” Event at Museum of Coastal Carolina

Wednesday, March 9th, 2011

Are you going to be in Ocean Isle Beach this weekend? You should! The weather is supposed to be beautiful, and the Museum of Coastal Carolina is hosting a “Protect Our Sea Turtles” event this Saturday, March 12th at 11:00 am. The Islander Coordinators for the Ocean Isle Beach Sea Turtle Protection Organization, Deb and Jim Boyce, will be on-hand to teach you about sea turtles, their nesting habits and what we can do to protect them.

The OIB Sea Turtle Protection Organization is a volunteer program that monitors sea turtle nesting and rescues sick or injured sea turtles. In addition to their rescue and nesting programs, they also hold frequent sea turtle educational events in North Carolina like the one at the Museum this Saturday.

So don’t let this opportunity slip by, head to OIB to learn about sea turtles, enjoy our beautiful weather, and stay in one of our oceanfront hotels in Ocean Isle Beach!
